if you want to post stuff like that then there are lots of places on the internet for it and, more importantly, if people want to see and read stuff like that then they are quite capable of going to these places themselves.. i know everyone likes to 'let their hair down' now and again, me included, and i like pictures of sexy women as much as anyone .

I totally agree. Not that I personally have a problem with bad language or pics and the such but (and judging by a lot of the responses, there are several who won't give a flying fart about this) my husband is still involved with the WTS. I have directed him here before because I thought this place was not only a place for x-jws to interact with each other but also a place where one could become informed about the things that the WTS would rather people not know. My husband will not come here anymore because of what he has been told about "apostates" by the witnesses and when he has came here the posts only AFFIRM what they've been telling him. I know that it is no one on this forums responsibility to help me or my husband but I did think that was one of the purposes for this forum. What is the point in posting and reposting exposing info (UN, blood, pedophilia) for those who already know that the borg is a crock??? If lurkers (who normally consist of those who are studying with witnesses, witnesses, family of the former, and x-jws) come here and all they see is penis this and boobies that, then they will probaby leave and all this damning info will just fall on the ears (or eyes rather) of those who have already left or made up their minds to leave.
I agree with Naeblis' suggestion.
I think that would be a wonderful compromise for all; those who come here for the interaction, and those who come here for info and for the hope of opening the eyes of the loved ones that we still have inside the borg.

does anyone know anything about this organization, aside from the fact that jimmy carter is somehow associated with them?
i'm considering doing some volunteer work for them, but don't know really know much about them.
i believe they are "faith-based", which i'm not necessarily keen on, but they get people into houses and bypass government red tape, which i do like.
BTW I doubt you would find JWs engaged in anything so humane and good for those in need.
I knew this one lady who worked there and I specifically remembered her wearing a Santa's hat one year at Christmas time. She was always jovial and always donning interesting hats. She was one of these people that you just don't miss. She was one of my favorite workers there, too (because she would usually give me something that was 2.00 for like a .25). She was just a really sweet and funny lady. I met her about a yr before I started attending the Kingdom Hall. Fast forward a couple of years...I had attended the KH for a while when one day, in she walked. Come to find out she had been baptized back in ancient times (lol) and was, from what I understand, inactive. I never noticed anyone shunning her though. They'd probably already done that a long time ago anyway, and just didn't bother anymore. She only came occasionally. I think she just came because of her son (he is still active).
But...to answer your question, I think that helping out H4H would be a great opportunity to help someone. Not only do they help build homes for the elderly and the poor, their thrift stores are wonderful. When my hub and I were first married and were really struggling financially, that was where we bought most of our clothing, furniture, and dishes. So, go for it.

Comments I have read that "prove" this story on Dateline was totally fabricated were:
1. Barbara Anderson said that she was doing research at Bethel, and everyone knows that sisters are NEVER trusted with confidential information--therefore, the Dateline story is bogus.2. Erica said "Thank God, thank the Lord", rather than "Thank Jehovah"--therefore, the Dateline story is bogus.
3. Erica's father now has a ponytail--therefore, the Dateline story is bogus.
Here is a rather lame one that I've heard:
The story aired on a worldly program (satan's domain). Therefore, the story is bogus.

i think it is wise for us to rise up and be counted so that we know who each other are.
To those who aren't christians, try not to take offense to a simple sharing of ideas, stories and truth. If you want to talk about actuall questions or ideas we do care and want to talk with everyone, not just those that agree with us . We are just trying to meet the others on here that are also christians now as others have done before for various other belief systems.

I AM a christian. Before and After (jwism). Clash's comment to Plm just reminded me of a one of the reasons why I was eager to hear what someone else thought of the bible. One of the reasons (not THE reason, but a primary contributing factor) why I let the JWs into my home in the first place. I had a bad first marriage and when it ended in divorce, many of my "friends" in the church took the side of my ex. I was treated like dirt and was told by my pastor pretty much the same stuff that Clash is stating here. While I don't blame my ex completely for our divorce, I do know that "scripturally" I did nothing wrong. I stayed with him through many trials until I could take it no more. Perhaps I was the bad guy because I filed for divorce. All I know, is when I needed these people the most, they turned their backs on me.
I am not alone in this. I know a lot of other people who want nothing to do with Christianity because of bold and arrogant statements such as the one's made by your brother in Christ, Clash. Too many "Christians" judge people without knowing circumstances, details, or even knowing the person (as you see, Clash has already judged me and he doesn't even know me). This isn't right. I'm sorry, I will never agree that passing judgement other people is right. I acted out of defense to this Clash fellow. He had no right damning someone to hell. Just my 2 cents.

i just finished reading some very interesting stuff from the fingers of clash and non.
i got up to get some lunch and just broke out in uncontrolled laughter!
but then i thought about how dangerous these people can be and wondered if it was all that funny.. i know that most christians are not a crazy as these two, but the christian community does have to accept some of the blame for this type of thinking.
So, it's both funny and scary. Funny to realize how pathetic their attempts at conversion are and how foolish their arguments are. But, scary to think they really believe it and may decide they can't wait for God to wipe all the infidels out and take matters into their own hands.
Great point! Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this kind of thing that led to what happened with 9-11?
And not very unlike what was going on with Timothy McVeigh. Although, his desire was not fed by religion, the underlying reasoning is there: I'm right and any who don't agree with me are wrong. He wanted the Gov't to make changes. When it didn't happen, he took action.

In all your wisdom you should have a clear, detailed, thoughtful and cogent response and a detailed presentation of the alternative to my position. All you gave was an emotional response. Pouting does not contribute to a fruitful dialog. Finally what drove you to the Jehovah’s Witnesses is the love for your own sin and the love of evil. Sin and wickedness are moral characters that go well with the Watchtower.

Second, the gist of my response was this: that being judgemental IS arrogant and stupid. And that you, by making the snotty remarks regarding the salvation of others on this forum (first plmkrzy and, now, you have the audacity to judge me...as if you EVEN know either one of us), are being judgemental. Nothing emotional there...just a FACT. Even God, according to his word, does not approve of judgemental pricks, such as yourself. So, take it up with him if you have a problem with it.
Third, this is not a classroom; it is a forum. I can present any information here in any form that I wish. If it is emotional...well, that is my choice. I am human, therefore I am emotional. By YOUR saying that I went with the dubs because I love sin and evil, only proves part MY point...that you are a judgemental jerk. Sounds like you don't even need God. You seem to be doing his job for him.
If you confuse pointing out obvious facts such as the effects of "holier-than-thou" christians (like yourself) contributing to the reasons why folk may run into the arms of a cult as pouting then you, my friend, are the one who needs to check their emotions.
